A number of international governement agencies require IELTS Band Scores for immigration and student visa application.

Government agencies requiring IELTS include:

• Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA)
• New Zealand Immigration Service (NZIS)
• Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)

AUSTRALIA

General Skilled Migration

DIMA requires applicants have sufficient ability in English for working in Australia. IELTS is the recognised test of both Vocational and Competent English and points are awarded based on Scores achieved.

Student Visa

DIMA requires IELTS Band scores for Student Visa applications. IELTS requirements for Student Visas vary according to the candidates nationality and education sector of their proposed study program.

CANADA

IELTS is the only internationally available test of English proficiency recognised by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for immigration purposes. Immigration candidates are awarded points according to the score they achieve in the IELTS General Training module.

NEW ZEALAND

NZIS requires an IELTS Overall Band Score of 6.5 in either the General Training or Academic IELTS Modules. Unless meeting exemption requirements, the IELTS Band Score is mandatory for application in the General skills migration category.
